Hunting Cougar, Bobcat and Lynx in British Columbia

We offer a special predatory hunt package offering the challenge of hunting three indigenous cats of this area - Cougar, Lynx and Bobcat.

The high population of these predators provides ample opportunities to take one of these cats. Since we have an abundant wildlife population in the area, we observe a large Cougar population.

These big cats make impressive trophies.

During the winter months, we have a high success rate for cougar, as their size can be determined from the tracks in the snow. Our guides and their trail hounds will assist in the pursuit.

Our guides provide their best, well-bred hounds for our cougar and small cat hunts.

A cougar hunt usually starts with a search for fresh tracks. Our territory borders a world class ski resort and the best helicopter skiing in the world, assuring the cougar hunting party that the snow conditions include frequent fresh snowfalls. Results become less predictable with the deterioration of the snow conditions, and the age of the track, but a veteran houndsman will seldom give up on a large track without putting in a considerable effort, regardless of conditions.

Our terrain is well-suited for cougar habitat. The cats rely on stealth and their ability to avoid detection while stalking their prey. The natural cover provided throughout our terrain is well-suited for cougar habitat. The high population of the cougar's prey (deer, moose, elk) in our terrirtory increases the possibiliites of a great chase.

Cougars breed year round and at any given time 3/4 of adult females will be raising on average 2 - 3 cubs. Although a couple of females may have overlapping home ranges consisting of 100+ square km, adult males avoid each in space and time and may require home ranges twice that size. At about 12 - 18 months of age younger males disperse in search of uninhabited home ranges.

Once a runable track is found and the dogs are released, the chase begings. Following the hounds in full pursuit of a cougar makes this a thrilling chase. When the hounds tree North America's largest cat, this usually signifies the end of the toughest parof one of the more exciting game hunts. Yet, even in perfect conditions, the outcome is challenging.

Even a treed cougar can still escape the dogs, you and your guide. Or, it may join with a female and separate the dogs, cross an open river. Should the cougar decide to fight, once treed, even a good cougar hound could be seriously injured.

This is considered a less traditional hunt and "arguably the most exotic and conveted big game trophy North America has to offer". Have some fun and come hunt cougars with us this Winter.
